The court-ordered closure of the $3.8bn Dakota Access Pipe- line and the cancellation of the $8bn Atlantic Coast Pipeline are the latest blows to President Donald Trump’s eforts to usher in a “golden era” of US energy through faster permit- ting. Trump within days of taking ofce sought expedited ap- proval of the 570,000 b/d Dakota Access and the 830,000 b/d Keystone XL. He did the same for other high-priority projects like the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, which would transport 1.4 Bcf/d (40mn m~3/d) of gas.
