Pakistan Leather Exports Rise by 8% in 11 months of FY 17-18

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), export of leather garments also rose by 2.05% to $269,128 million in July-May (2017-18) compared to an export of $263.7 million in July-May (2016-17). Similarly, leather gloves' export also surged by 17.64% as it soared to $198.18 million during the corresponding period from $168.46 million in the same period of previous year. Leather footwear export during the period under review was recorded at $86.18 million compared to an export of $74.03 million in first 11 months of previous year, thus showing an increase of 16.4%. On a yearly and monthly basis, the leather manufacturers' export in May 2018 increased by 21.6% and 1.22% when compared with the export during May 2017 and April 2018 respectively. The leather manufacturers' export rose from $36 million in May 2017 and $43.3 million in April 2018 to $43.84 million in May this year.
