Ideal approaches to venus that foster living together - Vitra Design Museum's Together!

"Sharing" is an indispensable concept when thinking of future living. An exhibition giving thought to how architecture should be based primarily on living together and the relationship between people started off at the Vitra Design Museum in Germany. The introduction section that explores the history of people living together in modern times is especially interesting. Appearing first is the ideal residence of 18th century France, a residence called Phalanstere that was Charles Fourier's ideal residence for a collective, and New Harmony through which Robert Owen aimed to reform the living environment of laborers. It also includes Le Corbusier's Unite d'Habitation that realized a new living environment afterWWII. The exhibition posits that the roots of the home as a collective in Europe was an answer to themes derived from the industrial revolution and capitalism, and that it was one of the foundations that gave birth to the hippie movement and counter culture of the 1960s.
