Greg Dennis, better known around Scenic Rim Dairy as 'Farmer Gregie', has struggled with deregulation and depression, before embracing technology to take charge of his destiny and ensure his family's future in the dairy industry.The Dennis family had been on their property in Tamrookum, about an hour's drive inland from Gold Coast, for four generations."My great uncle Henry came here and started the dairy in 1936," Greg says. "Unfortunately, he got quite sick and his older brother Hal, my grandfather, came to help him." When Henry passed away 18 months later, Hal took over the farm, married Rita and had two boys, Greg's uncle Ray and father Darrell. They are both still involved in the running of the dairy, and so are their wives, Greg's aunt Rose and mother Brenda. Greg himself had never left the farm, except briefly to attend school.
