Oman LNG aims for 25-year export extension

State-controlled Oman LNG is seeking a 25-year extension for its export concession as it expands liquefaction capacity at its Qalhat plant on the back of higher domestic production. The Qalhat plant's existing export concession expires in 2025. The facility has been in operation since 2000. The site is expanding its liquefaction capacity to 11.6mn t/yr by 2021, from 10.4mn t/yr now, Omani oil minister Mohammed al-Rumhy told Argus in September. The project is already under way, and some capacity increases are expected in 2019, Oman LNG chief executive Harib al-Kitani said at the Gas and LNG Middle East Summit in Muscat in late October.
