Oman: Iran-Oman Pipeline To Support LNG Exports

Oman continues to progress the development of the planned Iran-Oman pipeline which aims to connect Iran’s gas reserves to Omani domestic consumers as well as access Oman's LNG export capacity. A 25-year USD60bn natural gas venture was signed between the two countries in March 2014, and foresees imports of 10bcm a year of Iranian gas via a 260km pipeline. Both countries have agreed to avoid UAE waters as to circumvent rights-of- way permission from neighbouring countries. Most recent updates suggest that the project is set to begin tendering for the construction process, with a shortlist of eight consortia from across the globe having expressed interest in involvement with the pipeline.
