US LNG export project developer Venture Global LNG has signed a 20-year deal to sell French state-controlled utility EdF 1mn t/yr of LNG. The volume is equivalent to 140mn ft~3/d (1.4bn m~3/yr) of dry gas on an fob ba- sis from Venture Global’s planned Plaquemines LNG facility in southeast Louisiana. Venture Global for the past few years has been among the few US LNG developers able to fnalise the long-term customer deals necessary to get fnanc- ing. The Washington, DC-based company charges lower take-or-pay liquefaction fees and seeks smaller margins than most of its competitors, it says, although it declines to be more specifc.
