Albany 50MW biomass CHP offline until mid-2019

US utility Exelon Corporation’s 50MW biomass-fuelled combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Albany, Georgia, will be offline for 12-14 months following a fire in March. No fuel was damaged by the fire at the plant, Exelon said. When fully operating, the plant consumes 2,270 t/ day of biomass fuel, including forest residues, wood waste, sawdust and crop residues such as pecan shells and peanut shells.
