摘要

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are surface waves that are generated at the interface between metal and a dielectric. So far, they have grabbed the interest of the scientific world due to the potential in transmitting information on computer chips, as plasmons have the potential to combine the high bandwidth of optical communication with the small length scales of electronics. However, the short-term application of this phenomenon could take place in molecules sensing since the absorption of plasmons could be changed by adsorption of molecules at the metal interface.
