Angola gives Total extra time for Chissonga production

Angola has handed Total extra time as it finalises what to do with its Chissonga oil field.The company bought the field via the 2017 US $7.45 Bn purchase of Maersk Oil and reserves were seen as uncommercial as a stand-alone development,although costs have come down significantly since the last development attempt.Total is hoping to add extra oil and has been considering further drilling although it is also looking at a tie-back to its discoveries in Block 32.Late last month ANPG officials said Total was looking at a greenfield stand-alone FPSO project.Last week Presidential Decree No.280/19 was passed which extends the date by which Total must produce first oil until the end of June 2023.
