Identification of Traditional Market Characteristics and Modern Markets in Pangandaran District, West Java Province, Indonesia

摘要

This study aims to identify characteristics of traditional markets and modern markets in terms of management systems and social relations. This research uses qualitative method with descriptive approach. Primary data sources were obtained from in-depth interviews, focused discussions,and direct field observations. While the secondary data source obtained from the compilation and data processing in the form of research results, scientific articles, and documents related to the object of this study. Result of research indicate that traditional market in Pangandaran Regencythere are 27 locations consisting of 3 location managed by local government and 24 location managed by village government. While the number of modern markets there are 50 locations with details of Indomaret as many as 29 stores, Alfamart 17 stores, Yomart 2 stores, and Kuickmart and Srikatoneach one shop. The modern market management system is more centralized that allows the parent manager to manage the business management standards. While in traditional markets, managed by local government and village government. The interaction in traditional markets is more common, whereasin modern markets the interactions are not as strong in traditional markets.
