This study compares animal idioms between Chinese and Indonesian. It presents the comparison of two aspects: (1) the name of the same animal; (2) the meaning of the idioms. This study uses comparative qualitative methods to discover the similarities and differences of the idioms inChinese and Indonesian. The conclusions are: (1) proverb uses dragon has positive meaning; (2) Animal like goat, buffalo, monkey, tiger, elephant, dragon, wolf, and horse symbolizes the good thing for Chinese society but for Indonesian society goat, buffalo, and monkey symbolizes bad things;(3) Animal like snake and tiger have positive and negative meaning for Chinese society but for Indonesian society have negative meaning.
