Characterizing Metro Manila Teachers’ Civility as Antecedent of Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Civility is an essential behavior displayed by teachers in school. Research literature, however, failed to give a common definition of the said construct that cut across various contexts. Enthused by this deemed need, this study developed a structural meaning of civility using literature-suggestedvariables-job satisfaction, organizational citizenship behavior and general self-efficacy. Analysis of data from four survey instruments administered to 201 teachers from the Daughters of Charity schools in Metro Manila—the St. Louise de Marillac Educational System, results showed thatthe relationships among the variables considered are positive and significant, and that job satisfaction and general self-efficacy mediated the relationship of civility and organizational citizenship behavior. The model tested turned out fit using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique.
