摘要

Empirically, women generation in 1920s when gave birth stop working and back to work if the child attended to the school, women generation in 1930s when had a child working part time, and women generation in 1950s combining domestic and public work. Theoretically, the first study ofwomen career concentrated on the obstacles and opportunities of women in participation of the labor market, secondly, shifted to the women career orientation, and the last shifted in the women career development. Asian women, especially Indonesia, in doing career until early 2000s were stilllimited filling a spare time due to family factor, especially children, was still a major obstacle. For Javanese women, the success of a woman (mother) is measured by the capability to deliver their children become good people, respected, and successful. The success outside (work) will bewasted if not followed by success in household. Currently, women career development were affected by family formation, family responsibilities, job responsibilities, institution support, and resources support. Family formation includes the length of marriage, amount of children, age of firstand last children, as well as the husband support. Family and job responsibilities affected career development through family formation. Family formation and resources support have directly affected to the career rhythm. All the factors will affect the women careers level through the careerrhythm. Finally, the career level determines equal or unequal of the women lecturer career development with them counterpart, men.
