Potential of Municipal Solid Waste for Power Generation in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, Malaysia

摘要

Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) need to be managed in order to overcome the problem in terms of the greenhouse effect. Open dumping will contribute in the distribution of disease around the near populated area due to contamination of land and air. Sustainable management of waste with theoverall goal of minimizing its impact on the environment in an economically and socially acceptable way is a challenge for the coming decades. This research investigates the potential of MSW in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat for power generation to overcome the problem. The collected data shows thetotal estimated waste generated and the process of generating power by using MSW as source of energy can be done successfully due to the amount of waste produced by the municipal within the area of study.
