摘要

Isometric contraction: contraction of the muscle with no visible joint movement (1). Isotonic contraction: contraction of the muscle, with the joint moving through its range of motion against a constant resistance/weight. Isokinetic contraction: contraction of the muscle, with the joint moving through its range of motion at a constant velocity, with resistance varying to match the applied force at each degree of range of motion. Concentric contraction: movement that involves shortening of a muscle against a load. Most commonly isotonic. Eccentric contraction: controlled lengthening of a muscle against a load. Most commonly isotonic. Closed-chain exercise: distal extremity remains in constant contact with an immobile surface. Involves more than one muscle group. Considered to be more "functional." Open-chain exercises: distal extremity is free to move. Used to isolate individual muscle groups and joints.
