The linked histories of the European love affair with Chinese porcelain - which flourished in earnest from the 17th century - and the 18th-century European development and mastery of porcelain production, are well known. In the 21st century, ceramic artists from around the world have travelled to Jingdezhen, the site of the former Imperial kilns, where they have worked alongside the Chinese artisan potters.
