Bayer closes Monsanto purchase

LONDON (ICIS)--Bayer has completed the acquisition of US-based Monsanto, the Germanybased company said on Thursday, completing the multi-billion dollar merger of agrochemicals giants nearly two years after the deal was announced. The deal, currently valued at $63bn, will see the Monsanto name retired after over a century, and will provide an estimated $1.2bn in annual synergies by 2022, the company added. Monsanto investors are to be paid $128 per share in an all-cash offer.
