Bernstein expects Bayer/Monsanto deal to close in Q2, Bayer maintains Q1 guidance

LONDON (ICIS)--Bernstein Research believes that German firm Bayer's takeover of US counterpart Monsanto will not close until the second quarter of 2018, despite the company's guidance for a Q1 conclusion, the London-based analysts said in a note on Thursday. The note comes in response to media reports that Bayer has begun to market some of its US assets in a bid to win clearance for the Monsanto deal, including a vegetable seeds business and a software unit that helps farmers determine soil conditions for crops.
