Air Products to build coal-to-syngas plant to supply Jiutai’s China MEG project

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Air Products plans to construct a synthesis gas (syngas) facility to supply Jiutai New Material’s monoethylene glycol project in Hohhot, China, the US-based industrial gases producer announced on Monday. Air Products will invest $650m to build, own and operate a 500,000 normal cubic metre (Nm3)/hour coal-to-syngas plant, expected to start up in the company’s fiscal Q4 2021.
