EU to take closer look at planned US oil services merger

HOUSTON (ICIS)--The European Commission has decided to initiate a 'Phase II' review of the planned merger between US-based oil services majors Halliburton and Baker Hughes, Halliburton confirmed on Wednesday. The deal, worth about $35bn, was announced in November 2014 but has yet to receive regulatory clearance in major jurisdictions, including the EU.
