There is mounting concern about recent changes in equipment procurement procedures being applied for Pathology equipment and services purchases without the correct infrastructure in place to see things through to a successful conclusion. Several laboratories have reported to ACB News that they are in difficulty due to their procurement processes for main analysers being questioned at late stages in the tendering process. It would appear that a major area for concern is the recently introduced system incorporating "Competitive Dialogue", with companies who were not short listed for the final part of the process, mounting a legal challenge to the earlier parts of the processes they have been part of.
