Brazil’s steel industry posts ambiguous figures in January-February

Brazil’s steel industry keeps softening as the demand and domestic sales continueto worsen.Although crude steel production added 0.5% to 5.6 million t year-on-year over thefirst two months, this tiny increase was not reflected in semi-finished or finishedsteel output figures, according to Brazilian Institute of Steel (Instituto Aco Brasil,IABr) report. Specifically, finished steel output lost 5.5%, coming to 3.5 million twhile the production of semi-finished products for sales fell by 4.2% to 1.4 million t.
