US mills pushed crude steel production to more than a seven-year high. Stronger domestic market fundamentalsplayed into the hands of steelmakers in most regions of the country with the only exception being the southern one.Even with a modest increase last week, mills managed to post the highest results since the second week of February2012. The output amounted to 1.927 million st, a 1.1% increase week-on-week; steelmaking capacity utilization added0.9 p.p. to 82.8%, according to American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). The on-year dynamics was more remarkablewith steel output and capacity utilization increasing by 5.9% and 4.8 p.p. respectively, Metal Expert learnt.
