Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Oct. 19 showed Chinese daily refinery throughput hit a record 12.54MM b/d (51.34MM mt) in Sept., which was up 5.4% on the month and 4.9% on the year. State refiners increased throughput to 84% in Sept., up from 80% in Aug., while teapots increased throughput to 67% in Sept. from 59% in Aug. Grace Lee, Senior Analyst with S&P Global Platts Analytics, said, "The rebound in Sept. was broadly in line with our expectations of around 12.6MM b/d. This likely reflected higher seasonal demand and some stocking of oil products after Aug.'s unusual draw."
