Anti-dumping duties weigh on Asian biodiesel market.

Indonesia shipped 371K mt of biodiesel to the US in 2016, before anti-dumping duties (ADD) were imposed in 2017, and after die EU had imposed ADDs in 2013, cutting into that export opportunity. The 2016 figure represented 90% of the country's total biodiesel exports, but shipments plummeted this past year due to the ADDs. The US is now considering raising the ADD to 50.71%, claiming that Indonesian biodiesel is being sold below market value. Jakarta is considering bringing the issue before the WTO, but it is also facing pushback at home related to biodiesel subsidies that are paid for by a crude palm oil export tax of $50/mt. Indonesia plans to raise its B20 biodiesel mandate to 30% in 2020, but biodiesel production has been operating at only around 35% due to waning exports.
