Chevron signs oilfield study agreement with Iraq

Basra-Chevron and Iraq's state-run Basra Oil Company on Thursday agreed to a study of at least three oil fields in southern Iraq, with the potential for longer-term development of the fields and additional energy infrastructure. Ahmed Fadhel Adham, deputy director general of the Basra Oil Company, told S&P Global Platts the signing is the follow-up to a June agreement in a Letter of Cooperation signed in Basra with Chevron. On Thursday, the sides signed a confidentiality agreement to begin a "field development study," Adham said, that Chevron is to conduct of the Luhais, Tuba, and Subba oil fields.
