Japan’s April ferrous scrap exports surge 46% on year

Singapore—Japan exported 903,016 mt of ferrous scrap in April, climbing 46% from a year ago and 4.2% from March, as it continued to export healthy volumes of the scrap, the latest customs data showed. South Korea remained at the top of the destinations' list having received 350,616 mt of ferrous scrap from Japan, up 23% from March. Vietnam was next taking 301,650 mt of Japan's ferrous scrap, a 16% month-on-month increase, while Taiwan took third spot with 112,929 mt of ferrous scrap, down 10% from a month ago.
