Denmark has postponed the awarding of licenses in its latest North Sea oil and gas exploration round until later this year amid concerns about the environmental impact of continuing to burn hydrocarbons. Four companies — Ardent Oil, Lundin, Mol and Total — submitted applications in the eighth licensing round for rights to explore and extract hydrocarbons in the Danish sector of the North Sea until 2055. Most of the licenses offered were for the Central Graben area.
