Five NatGas Rigs Return in U.S. Despite Lack of Price Encouragement

When it comes to commodity prices, there hasn't been much for drillers to get excited about recently, but that didn't stop the United States from adding 12 rigs for the week ending July 7, according to data published Friday by Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE). U.S. drillers didn't let an overall bearish week for natural gas futures stop them from adding five gas-directed rigs. That was on top of seven oil-directed rigs, bringing the U.S. tally to 952 as of Friday, more than double the year-ago total of 440.
