An Exploratory study of educators' and students' perceptions of collaboration versus cheating in hospitality and tourism education

摘要

Although many studies have focused on student cheating behaviors, the distinctions between cheating and collaboration are blurry and have not been the subject of much research. Hospitality is often a collaborative industry and thus, understanding the differences could be especially important. Therefore, this study surveyed hospitality and tourism management faculty members and students to learn about how they differentiate between collaboration and cheating in hospitality and tourism education. Results of the study indicated that students and faculty members held varied views about cheating versus collaboration, as educators tended to make harsher judgements concerning these behaviors. Implications for teaching are provided.
