Douglas Holding makes a good start to the year

German retail group Douglas Holding has reported double-digit growth for fiscal 2006/7 and a healthy start to 2007/8. The group hit its target of 10-12% sales growth in the last fiscal year, with turnover up 12% to EUR3bn and pre-tax earnings hitting EUR143m, a rise of 10.6%. The perfumery division saw its sales grow 7.9% to EUR1.7bn. Sales from the 441 perfumeries in Germany rose 5% to EUR881 m, while the 619 perfumeries outside Germany performed even more strongly, putting on 11.2% for a total of EUR800m. This has increased their share of Douglas' perfumery turnover to 47.6%.
