The prospect of Queensland’s Galilee Basin becoming a major coalproducing hub was dealt another blow last week when Australiancoal hauler Aurizon pulled the plug on its application for federalgovernment funding for its proposed rail link in the region.In an announcement last Friday the hauler said it hadwithdrawn its application for up to A$1bn in funding via theNorthern Australian Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) because it wasunlikely to secure customer contracts.
