South Korea’s government intends to close half of the country’s almost 60 coal-fired power units by 2034, with 10 of those to go by the end of 2022, said President Moon Jae-in. A tripling of the number of solar and wind power facilities by 2025, compared with last year, is expected to replace the lost generating capacity, he said.
