China: Much ado about little in urea

The urea market was overflowing January 18 with rumours of a domestic tender in China for 5.5 million mt fertilizers, the majority of which was said to be urea. While the duration of the latest proposal is a deviation from standard procedures over the last decade, the call for stockpiling refers to the off-season reserve scheme in force for over a decade, where producers and distributors were called upon to provide fertilizers from October through March of any given year.
