Ammonia supply remains tight but with many market participants still on holiday, activity is subdued and prices are stable. Price volatility through January and into February cannot be ruled out as buyers may seek urgent cover amid limited availability. Sabic revealed it is yet to restart its Safco IV ammonia unit following maintenance, despite earlier indications it would be back on stream by mid-December. A revised start-up date of January 5 has been suggested but Sabic has said it cannot meet its contract commitments with Lotte Fine Chemical (LFC) and several Indian buyers this month.
