Spot prices for sulphuric acid cargoes to the US Gulf were assessed unchanged at $60-70/t CFR on an indicative basis, as the spot market remained quiet. Import volumes of contracted tonnes remained relatively steady, sources said. Although freight rates from Europe to the US have increased in recent months, the published ranges still line up, with spot business likely achievable around the mid-point of the range. Spot prices from Europe are pegged at $30-35/t FOB northwest Europe and NW Europe-US Gulf freights are around $32-34/t for 17-20,000 t cargoes, a rate that has increased from $25- 27/t in early October.
