Poland’s goal to begin importing Norwegian gas in 21/2 years has come two steps closer after the start of a key offshore field and the receipt of the final license for pipeline construction in the Polish section of the Baltic Sea. State-controlled PGNIG announced Wednesday that the first production well at the Aerfugl field was launched ahead of schedule, while Gaz-System, Poland’s gas transmission operator, said the same day that it has received a license from regional authorities to build a 56 km landfall pipeline for Baltic Pipe.
