Kazakhstan predicts higher crude output in 2018

The Kazakh energy ministry expects the country’s crude production to hit 87mn t (1.82mn b/d) this year, continuing a return to output growth established in 2017. Crude production increased by 10.5pc to 86.2mn t last year, economy minister Timur Suleimenov said on 11 January. The strength of the 2017 increase reflects rising output from the Caspian offshore 13bn bl Kashagan field, which produced 8.3mn t, according to Suleimenov. Both the output forecast for 2018 and the figure for last year are well above Kazakhstan’s commitment to hold crude production at 1.68mn b/d under the Opec and non-Opec production output agreement.
