Tajikistan signs up for more Russian petcoke

Russian petroleum coke shipments to Tajikistan could hit 100,000t next year,up from planned 2018 exports of 20,000t,under an oil supply balance agreed by Russia and Tajikistan last month.But market participants doubt that supplies will reach this amount.Tajik aluminium producers are the main buyers of imported coke and the country’s aluminium output is in decline - production fell by 23pc to 100,000t last year.Key buyer state-owned aluminium company Talco’s production was down by 4.5pc on the year at 72,500t in January-November.Russia supplied 17,500t of coke to Tajikistan during this period,while exports were just 5,300t last year.Lukoil’s 290,000 b/d Perm refinery is the sole Russian supplier of petroleum coke to Tajikistan.Talco also buys coke from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan,taking 15,000t of the product from each in January-November.Tajik petroleum coke imports fell by a third to 60,000t of last year.
