摘要

Microshear bands are planar regions of localised shear with a width in the order of 0.1-1 mu m, which form in many crystalline materials during low temperature deformation up to high strain. In many cases, they determine material properties like strength, texture development, and recrystallisation nucleation. Thus a profound knowledge on microshear bands is important for the design of thermo-mechanical processes for the production of metal products. This study aimed to understand the initiation and evolution of microshear bands. To this end the microstructure of shear bands in bcc and fcc alloys was analysed, in particular with respect to crystal orientations and active slip systems.
