Colakoglu Metalurji is a private family-owned company that has a history of over60 years. Firstly, company did trade in steel and later on rolled rebar, then movedto its current location about 50 years ago and started as one of the very first privateEAF steel manufacturers in the country. Until 2007 the company had been one ofthe biggest long product manufacturers in the country. In 2004 Colakoglu Metalurjidecided to reinvest in its facilities and also to step into flat products where Turkeywas able to produce only 30% of its domestic consumption at that time. EAF and its transformer were the biggest insize and capacity of their kind at the time of their installation in 2007 which was followed by a hot-strip mill in 2010.
