摘要

FIRST, THE GOOD NEWS: FROM 1998 to 2008, mortality rates dropped 30.6% for individuals with cardiovascular disease and 34.8% for those with stroke. Now the bad news: the emerging obesity and diabetes epidemics suggest those mortality rates are poised to level off or even begin to climb.Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics-2012 Update: A Report From the American Heart Association presents data suggesting that cardiovascular health in the United States is far from ideal (Roger VL etal. Circulation. 2012;125:el2-e220). The statistics were compiled by the American Heart Association in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other government agencies and also contain data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
