Society leads in devising care home resources

THE Royal Pharmaceutical Society has played a leading role in developing a comprehensive, free resource pack, which was launched last week to help improve medicines management in care homes. The resources were created in response to issues raised by the "Care homes' use of medicines study" (PJ2009;283:377) through a partnership between the National Care Forum (NCF) and representatives from professional, health and social care bodies, including the RPS.The study stated that pharmacists should have overall responsibility for the use of medicines in a care home or a group of homes in order to improve medicines safety.
