THE development of safe and effective pharmacy services is arguably dependent on appropriate information technology. But this is one aspect of health policy among the devolved administrations in Great Britain that has developed differently, and at different rates. Electronic prescriptions, communication between secondary and primary care and access to patients' records have all reached different stages in the three GB countries.
