RPS partners leading charities in local government tobacco control programme

THE Royal Pharmaceutical Society is to partner leading health charities in a new programme of engagement with local councils on tobacco control and public health launched by the Tackling Tobacco Network. The aim of the initiative is to position comprehensive tobacco control programmes as key priorities within the new structures for public health in England, which come into effect in April 2013. The RPS is inviting its network of local practice forums to participate and help in this new initiative in public health. The RPS is joining the Tackling Tobacco Network (TTN) in collaboration with key national charities, including Cancer Research UK, die British Lung Foundation, the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and QUIT, as well as other professional bodies such as the British Thoracic Society.
