Reports outline measures to improve regulation of healthcare workers

Measures to improve governance and regulation of healthcare professionals have been outlined in two reports from the Department of Health."Tackling concerns nationally"recommends the establishment of the Office of the Health Professions Adjudicator,an independent body,separate from existing professional regulators,which would look at cases assessing fitness to practise,initially for doctors then potentially expanding to other healthcare professionals in the future.At the earliest pharmacists would be included in 2013.
