Home Secretary the Rt Hon Jacqui Smith MP recently visited a Lloydspharmacy in her consituency of Redditch. Ms Smith visited the pharmacy to see how the sector is expanding its care offering to further help the local community. Open for 100 hours per week, the pharmacy is close to three GP practices and offers diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol checks for the 80,000 residents in its catchment area, raising awareness of hidden conditions and helping people take control of their health. The pharmacy also offers tailored services such as smoking cessation support, medicines management of long-term conditions, and health and lifestyle advice.
