Both the General Pharmaceutical Council and the new professional body for pharmacy are expected to have a distinctive presence in Scotland,the Scottish Pharmacy Board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society heard at its October meeting in Edinburgh.Nigel Clarke,chairman of the Transitional Committee(TransCom)gave a presentation to the board on plans for the new professional body.He was of the view that the combined fees for the new professional body and the GPhC should not exceed the current fee for membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society,but acknowledged that this depended on decisions taken by the Department of Health and the GPhC itself.He told the board that the draft prospectus from TransCom would be put to the Council's November meeting with consultation to start soon after.
