We found that extracorporeal cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) had a survjval benefit over conventional CPR in patients with in-hospital cardiac arrest of cardiac origin. Peter Hoglund and colleagues suggest that caution is required when extrapolating these findings to the general population. We totally agree. In fact we had some interesting discussions with The Lancet's reviewers and editors about these issues before the article was accepted.
